West Fest, Halloween, and some other stuff
Alright, here we go again. Another few weeks are gone and again I wasn’t able to keep up and write some new stuff here. Again: sorry for that, but if I’m not too busy I’m to lazy to write something. But guess what: now I’m here and I’m writing something down. Woohoo.
Okay, let’s start with the weekend one week ago. Because I can’t remember where the Pint Night of this week took place I can’t tell you anything about it but what I know is that I’ve been to the Golden Gate Park on this weekend where the so-called West Fest took place. The West Fest: that is the 40th anniversary of the Woodstock Festival of ‘69 with fucking crazy, stoned, but friendly, totaly crazy, totaly stoned people, sunshine, nice music, and of course: totally fucking stoned people. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen so many stoned people on one day and in one location. The current quote below this post here was from one of the so-called candymen. I guess the candymen over there had everything you can imagine: space cookies, weed, hemp brownies, and so on. Not that I’m interested in this stuff but it was fun to see all these guys. As I mentioned in on of my earlier blog posts weed is totally accepted everywhere.
However the best story about this is that at this West Fest several sheriff’s were walking through the crowd but not that they arrested the weed smoking guys, no they were just telling the people that they had to stop smoking otherwise it would lead to a fine because smoking in this area in the Golden Gate Park is prohibited. Funny story because owning or smoking weed is not allowed in California if you’re not authorized by a doctor. Never mind.
Meanwhile I had several tests, exams, mid-terms and so on, but so far I don’t have any results besides of my second Public Relations test which was a “B” againg, 84% is not to bad for the really less amount of time I’m spending on studying. I’m curious what grade Mr. Garcia will give me for this result by transforming the American grades to my German Transcpript of Records. We’ll see.
Thursday than the next Pint Night in the famous Infusion Lounge downtown. Of course a pre-Halloween party / Halloween Pint Night and because I didn’t wanted to be the only “undressed” guy over there I decided to go there as a kind-of modern vampire. And I’ve to say I liked it there. The Lounge / Club / Bar is a very nice place even the music was way to loud - again. Nice special guest of this night: Agnes, the winner of the Swedish version of American Idol or if you want to “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”. If it is a good sign if you’re singing in front of maybe three houndred people in a bar in San Francisco and go off stage after one song? Well, I don’t know.
Because of the huge upcoming Halloween party in Pierre’s place, another French exchange student at the SFSU, I decided not to go out on Friday to be prepared for Saturday. Additionally I cam home late from Haight-Ashbury where I was buying some stuff for my costume. Good decision I guess but didn’t helped that much. But okay. Saturday than I went to a mall nearby and bought a nice bow tie for my old-school vampire costume which unfortunately turned out to be more likely a waiter costume. At least I knew that it should be a vampire and that’s what counts. Btw: please remind me to bring back the fucking expansive bow tie to the store. Refund, please.
Starting the Halloween party in my / our place as usual, getting dressed, kind-of drunk, leaving home to the Castro district. Great start. Arriving there the first thing I saw: tons of cops. Never seen so many cops with my own eyes I guess. But as I heared last year on Halloween there have been several gang fights and one guy was shot, so thats why. Hower arriving at the party it was not too crowded with a very nice atmosphere which should not stay like that for the whole night. People went crazy becoming more drunk, more people stopping by and after breaking two tables the police finally arrived at the party. Unfortunately I’m not able to tell you the time but it was already very late.
But not enough I went with my room mates to the Castro Slide, a big slide in the Castro district on a hill. After enjoying the slide and the nice panorama view over San Francisco and the Bay Bridge we finally went home by cap and catched some sleep after a very hilarious Halloween night I probably will never forget. Never been to such a crazy party. Want more. Over and out.
Upcoming: Thanksgiving brake - 10 days off. No plans so far. Roadtrip through California? Going somewhere else? Any advice?
Btw: 25 degree Celsius in the beginning of November in San Francisco. Quite good, hm? What about Germany? ;)
